The Fish say NO to Tilapia

Tilapia, otherwise a glorified name for CARP, is a kissing cousin to my own
glorious personage. Hence, I cannot in good conscience consume such a delicacy.
As a fellow denizen of the deep, I find it unacceptable and morally reprehensible
to consider eating the gentle tilapia.  Cannibalism can never be condoned in a
free society.

I ask restaurant goers to make wiser choices.....
Perhaps a moss covered stone or a piece of seaweed would be more to your taste?
Consider the tasty lily pad for a culinary extravaganza.
For a snack, crunchy fish flakes are difficult to resist.

Just thinking about these gastronomic joys makes my fins flutter!

The Fish Listens to Strauss

Strauss' last opera, "Cappriccio",  is quite a delightful work!
It poses the question: Which is more important?  The words or the music?
Are they important as separate entities, or do they enhance each other?

As a composer, I lean toward the side of music,
but there are times when pure rhetoric and inspired speechcraft will reach the heart
like no other medium.

There are two DVD editions of this opera available.  One with Kiri Te Kanawa, and the other with Renee Fleming.   Whichever you choose,  listen to more than just the music (which is lush and beautiful in itself), and decide for yourself the answer to the question.  Maybe you will decide that it is too "trivial" to answer.

The Fish Reveals Self

The Fish Speaks about Parsifal

You would never think of a fish fancying opera, would you?  I've been delving - even gravelling - into the deep mysteries of Wagner's Parsifal.  This opera can be interpreted on many different levels - from the surface enjoyment of the story alone, to the deep hidden religious and philosophical  meanings.  Some say that Parsifal became an inspiration for Hitler because of its hidden anti-semitic commentary and allusions to a pure master race.  There is some evidence for this!

Now I will continue to gravel on this topic and perhaps harass my companion plucustomus.
